Comics Quiz!

An unpardonable omission from that last comics-entry: it had no QUIZ! So here we go: in honor of the fact that the LATE Captain America (....) had no superpowers, and in honor of the upcoming soon-to-be-fantastic Spider-Man movie, we combine the two to ask the following -

Despite the fact that he can lift a family sedan over his head, Spider-Man has a history of fighting villains who don't themselves possess superpowers at all. Name five of these baddies! Extra points if you can specify which ones actually engaged in fisticuffs with the web-slinger, despite the fact that in the REAL world, they wouldn't last more than five seconds or so.

Well, technically, Green Goblin doesn't have any REAL superpowers, since everything he has is his suit and his insanity... but other than that, I don't know nothin'.

NOPE! The ORIGINAL Green Goblin did indeed have super-powers, given him by the same experiment that drove him crazy.

Come on, people - there are PLENTY of candidates out there!

How 'bout Vulture, Chameleon, Kraven, Mysterio, and the Kingpin? And all three 'Enforcers'? I'm sure he's been in a fist fight with all of them (not sure if Kraven had 'gorilla-strength' syrum in the comics, or in the cartoons, but overall, he's powerless).

Chameleon, Mysterio, and Kingpin are square on the money! Vulture's flying apparatus gives him marginally super 'vitality,' and Kraven's physiology is indeed enhanced by the herbs he takes in his origin story, so they don't count.

Anybody remember Man Mountain Marko?

Kevin said...

Nope. But since all three Enforcers must count as well, I win the prize, right?

Whoo-hoo! Now you owe me a comic for calling you a 'narrow-minded cape zombie' last year, a drawing of Cosmic Boy, and whatever the prize for this one is!

I'll start holding my breath now, and exhale when they arrive.

Er, um ... somebody should probably call a medic for ol' breath-holding Kevin ...

OK FINE! A comic, a Cosmic Boy drawing, and, for this one, yet another comic! Geez, I do and I do and I do for you kids, and this is the thanks I get...

(and if you're going to point out that one of the things I do is make empty promises of rewards for quizzes ... shaddup)

J.J. Jameson is certainly despotic enough to be considered a villian. Spider Man has fought the Punisher a number of times. (Althought, some might consider him more of an anti-hero rather than villian.) Dr. Octopus has no super powers, just mechanical arms grafted to his body. Also, I believe the Russian spy known as the Black Widow has no super powers. Reichmarshal

My final list: 1. Hobgolin (He is the one that found the Green Goblin's lair and used his weapons), 2. Kingpin, 3. The Rose (Kingpin's son), 4. The Black Cat (originally had no powers), 5. Dr. Octopus (no superpowers, just mechanical arms grafted to his body). Of these, I know that Spider Man has engaged in hand-to-hand combat with the Hobgoblin and Dr. Octopus on numerous occasions.
